prepare + organize = productive

If you think about it, being organized is one of the most essential factors in being productive.
It’s not necessary to be extremely rigid in order to be organized, but you do need to be conscious of and conscientious about everything that goes into your day.
Getting things done means being organized with your time, the supplies and equipment and tools you use, and your expectations.
I’m quite sure you can think of at least one person who is disorganized, and how it affects their ability to accomplish tasks.
They may rush willy-nilly into and through their day, miss appointments, be unsure of what they should accomplish and be careless with the supplies or equipment they work with during the day. This is surely a sign of a person who does not get things done, simply because the lack of organization prevents them from being productive.
Frankly, I have no idea how anyone can function at all when the entire tangible canvas of their task environment is disheveled. I couldn’t do it, no way, no how. I like order in everything I do including my work space. If I worked with no order and organization, I would feel like I’m in a maze trying like hell to get out while somebody has their hand firmly gripped around my throat choking the life out of me.
This organization thing is not rocket science because…
There is no reason to make getting organized to get more done any more difficult than it needs to be. In it’s simplest form, your organization can commence with the understanding of these two mindset principles:
- Begin by making a basic schedule of what you need to do and when it needs to be done.
- Make sure that you know in advance where everything you’ll need to complete your tasks are located so you will not waste time looking for something when you need to use it.
Thats it. Thats all there is to it. It’s not rocket science. If you incorporate those two principles throughout any day, you have won half the battle.
Preparing an outline of your work day will help you to be where you need to be, and to get things done on time. Keeping all of your supplies neat and organized will help you to avoid wasting time and becoming frustrated over not being able to readily find items when you need them.
When your goal is to increase your productivity– to get things done– being organized is an essential factor. If you are one of the many people who has not yet developed this positive habit, the results may astound you. You will soon see that you are accomplishing much more, doing a better job, and ending up with results that are more satisfying. Becoming better-organized in every aspect of your work life will greatly enhance your productivity.
